2007 Trade Show SLC, Ut
This was my first trip to the trade show in Salt Lake City, Ut. It was a trip to have fun and explore what the 1141 booths of Dealers, Exhibitors, and Buyers have to offer in this giant Labyrinth at the Salt Palace in Downtown SLC.
I first headed to the Evolv Booth to meet the owner Brian Chung for the first time and check out there new line of Approach and Rock Climbing Shoes, The Optimus is this new shoe Sharma designed and will be out in the spring, I think this shoe will spin a lot of heads. Evolvs booth at pretty large compared to other climbing shoes companies. I think Evolv has a great set of climbers on there team, Including Chris Sharma, Lisa Rands, Lizzy Asher, Chris Linder, and Alex Puccio, I think that the rest of the crew on the Evolv team (Including Me) believing in there product, then Evolv has a great future ahead of them.
I took me about 2 1/2 hours to walk through the show, I end up meeting some new friends, seeing old ones and meeting people for the first time that I have conducted business through by email. I was able to strike some attention to my site by mentioning it to everyone I came in contact with and passed out business cards.
After hanging at the trade show I need to head over to The Front Climbing Gym to shoot video of the Pre-Qualifiers for Mike Call and Josh Lowell, Mike let me shoot from his True DVCPro50 HD camera (Real Bad Ass HD Cam), I am thinking about buying one of these in the future. The comp was cool I had a good time shooting, I thought I got some great shoots. After the Comp I headed back to the hotel room to change and ride my Long board dinner at the Redbrick with my good friends Matt Kennedy, His boss and co-worker, Adrian Robert, and Melissa Marshall. I recently found out that you couldn’t order doubles of anything in Utah, so I ordered a single white Russian and The Migon Steak Ummmmmmm Good!
Day 2 I went to the Trade Show to hangout and chat with some vendors, 5:30 pm I headed over to the Shilo Inn across the street from the Trade Show, the Comp. Finals where starting at 6pm. I helped Mike Call and Josh Lowell shoot video for the Finals and Oh Boy the Problems looked very hard, there were about 1500 and 2000 people watching the comp. Sharma and Alex J. won the Comp. After the comp. I headed over to the after party that Revolution and Mammut hosted, it was one of the best climbing after parties I have been to, there was 5 different rooms with dance floors, Go-Go Dancers and everyone was all dancing up on stage.
Day 3 I packed up my shit and headed home with Melissa M. and Todd from Joy Engine, we made a short stop in Joes Valley on the way back, it was about 80 degrees and slightly windy. Joes was fun for about 2 hours before the sun went down.
